Fine Art Gallery art for sale Love and Valour Ramayana the Divine Saga

Description

The theme of this painting is the epic Ramayana- the saga of the brave and righteous prince Rama, who is banished to the forest with his beloved wife Seeta and devoted brother Lakshmana. The noble and pure minded couple live in happiness and peace in their forest abode served untiringly by Lakshmana. Their happiness is destroyed by the wicked demon king Ravana, who commands the evil Maaricha to lure the valiant princes away, while he carries away the divinely beautiful Seeta to his distant kingdom.
This painting captures this critical scene of the epic where Maaricha in the guise of a golden fawn appears in the distance. The innocent Seeta is captivated by the creature’s ethereal beauty and she entreats Rama to capture it for her. Seeta’s expression of yearning and the obvious affection in the countenance of Rama clearly shows the infinite love between the couple. The warrior-like grace of the brothers is depicted with strong/ boldly defined strokes, while the delicately beautiful princess is depicted possessing an ethereal beauty of form.

The forest panorama and the multitude of trees and greenery present the ideal setting in this canvas for the principal characters. The impression of the golden fawn gamboling beyond reach is clearly brought out by the contrast in size with the fawn in the foreground.
