Description

Sopot is a seaside town on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea in northern Poland. I made many a pen & ink studies of the boats along the shores with its colourful bunch of flags. This was painted in the studio from one of those studies.

The texture of this oil painting creates a strong sense of movement within it. In this piece of art, you can feel the wind blowing through the sky as you follow the brush marks there. The movement of the water, too, comes through with the texture of the painting. The boat breaks the monochromatic scheme beautifully with its bright colors.
