Skipjack outward bound on a gentle ebb-tide.
Flickering house lights on the far-bank of the Choptank River are almost lost in the moonlight. A chill breeze ushers in November .The oystering season is underway..

Skipjacks are the last N.American workboat to operate under sail. Only about 30 skipjacks remain. The Bay is polluted by fertilizer runnoff and pleasure craft.. Oysters are disappearing, and with them skipjacks and crews.

The sky in this oil painting is especially striking; the moon outlines the clouds with a glowing light, which then falls down upon the surface of the water. The artist has paid careful attention to the movement of light in this piece of art, and has captured an especially realistic shadow that the boat casts.
